First, we would like to show our humble gratitude to all those nominated. This was not a decision made quickly or lightly by our judges. There were so many deserving of this award who embodied the definition of a Healthcare Hero and we want to thank you for all you have done and are continuing to do during this pandemic.

We are honored to announce that Lisa Ferrentino is the winner of our Charlotte County Healthcare Heroes contest! Lisa is a charge nurse at the COVID-19 Unit in the ICU at Fawcett Memorial Hospital. Lisa actually contracted COVID-19 from being on the front lines and had to be quarantined before being allowed to return to back to work. She lives with her husband, their five children, and has recently moved her mother, who has the beginning stages of Parkinson’s Disease and needs special care, into their home. Lisa is also working on earning her master’s degree to become a Nurse Practitioner. So, in addition to Lisa’s job, she has quite a lot on her plate, and when asked how she makes time to care for everyone, she instinctively responds, “You make time.” And, in true fashion to her caring and selfless nature, instead of choosing her own bathroom, Lisa has chosen to have her mother’s bathroom renovated with SandStar to make her more comfortable with accessibility in mind. Lisa is a true Healthcare Hero!

Congratulations, Lisa! We thank you for all that you do and look forward to starting this journey with you!
